(LibertyInsider.org) – A recent poll conducted by the Daily Mail and J.L. Partners, a political polling firm, suggests that support for President Joe Biden is slipping in advance of the 2024 election. Unsurprisingly, most Republican respondents strongly opposed Biden’s bid for a second term. However, the survey also indicated that a significant portion of Democrats share the same opinion, suggesting that dissatisfaction with the president extends across party lines.
J.L. Partners asked a random sampling of 984 likely voters to share how they felt about President Biden, former President Donald Trump, and the upcoming 2024 election cycle. Just 34% of the respondents indicated that they thought Biden should run for a second term, with the exception of the 6% who refrained from giving an opinion at all. The remaining survey participants indicated that they felt the current president should step aside.
A staggering 87% of Republicans and 65% of Independents said that Biden should not run for a second term in 2024. Nearly 30% of Democrats concurred with this position. A full 44% of the same group also said it wasn’t too late to replace him with a new nominee.
These results should deeply concern Democratic Party leaders, but other findings from the same survey paint an even bleaker picture. J.L. Partners asked respondents to describe, in a single word, what they believed Joe Biden hoped to achieve in a second term. The most popular response was simply “nothing,” indicating a widespread perception that the president lacks a clear vision or agenda for another four years in office.
Biden is also apparently losing ground among key voting blocs critical to his success, according to a concurrent J.L. Partners survey. Around 68% of respondents under 30 and 49% of Black voters don’t believe he should run for office in 2024. Moreover, at least 4% of people who voted for him in 2020 now say they intend to support Donald Trump instead.
