US Navy Says Sailor Tried To Access Biden Medical Records

(LibertyInsider.org) – An investigation launched by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) in late February concluded that a sailor made three unsuccessful unauthorized tries to access President Joe Biden’s medical records. During the probe, the suspect, a junior enlisted member of the Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command located at Fort Belvoir in Fairfax County, Virginia, admitted looking up the president’s name “out of curiosity.”

A coworker notified the NCIS about the attempted breaches of the Genesis Medical Health System (MHS), a military medical database. While Fort Belvoir serves as a medical hub and is near the White House, the president typically receives routine and emergency medical care at the Walter Reed National Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.

The Navy withheld the sailor’s name and issued an administrative discipline after the NCIS concluded its nearly two-month probe on April 24. Navy Commander Tim Hawkins told CBS News that the Genesis MHS was a secure system that restricted access to Biden’s health records. He added, “at no time was the President’s personal information compromised.” Another official, speaking anonymously, disclosed that the sailor “did not pull up the right Joe Biden.”

However, the NCIS informed the White House and Biden about the unsuccessful attempts and the investigation. Two days after the investigation began, the president received his annual health assessment at Walter Reed. The White House said the incident didn’t affect the planned two-and-a-half-hour physical.

Dr. Kevin O’Connor pronounced Biden “fit for duty” after the examination. He also issued a more detailed memo providing a more detailed assessment, including a new diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea, which the president treats with Positive Airway Pressure (PAP) while sleeping, similar to millions of Americans.

O’Connor said he found Biden healthy and fully able to execute “all of his responsibilities without any exemptions or accommodations.” The physician’s report came on the heels of Special Counsel Robert Hur’s February 5 report that discouraged charging Biden for retaining classified documents after serving as vice president.

Hur specifically justified his decision by stating that the prospects of conviction seemed unlikely because he believed the jury would regard Biden as “a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.”
