RNC Laying Off Dozens of People

(LibertyInsider.org) – Employees at the Republican National Committee (RNC) faced a reality all too familiar to millions of working Americans this week: cutbacks. Now under the direct leadership of Chairman Michael Whatley and Co-Chair Lara Trump, the committee is reportedly laying off over 60 staffers.

Leaders at the RNC emailed officials, most of whom worked within the communications, political, and data divisions, that same day. While the exact messaging apparently varied between departments, many were advised that “Chairman Whatley [was] in the process of evaluating the organization and staff” in an attempt to ensure the committee was “aligned with his vision of how to win in November.”

According to POLITICO, RNC CEO Sean Cairncross sent out a memo suggesting that certain staff members were “being asked to resign and reapply.” Others were simply terminated with an effective date of March 31.

Cairncross has yet to publicly disclose any specific names or outline who was encouraged to stay and who was set to depart. According to POLITICO, the RNC has been referred to as too “bureaucratic” and “bloated.” This has, Trump advisers have argued, contributed to the organization’s funding problems.

An RNC insider did reportedly tell the media that the changes were specifically aimed at reducing bureaucracy, according to POLITICO. The outlet framed the restructuring as part of Trump re-asserting authority over party operations now that he is the presumptive nominee.

The committee immediately moved to appoint his picks to leadership after Super Tuesday. Whatley and Lara Trump both adhere closely to the former president’s agenda.

Notably, Trump also played a key role in getting former Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel to resign from the RNC. The two leaders reportedly met in private at Mar-a-Lago in early February to discuss the matter of her position and upcoming changes at the committee. Trump shared a post to Truth Social the next day calling her a “friend” and stating that he didn’t intend to make any decisions until after Super Tuesday. She ended her seven-year tenure by stepping down on March 8.
