Long Beach police arrested Tyler Isaac Cooper on September 10, near Atlantic Avenue and 59th Street. Cooper, 23, is believed to be involved in a spate of robberies and burglaries targeting local businesses over several months.
Cooper’s apprehension followed a diligent investigation involving meeting with business owners and victims, reviewing surveillance footage, and canvassing for additional evidence.
Details of Alleged Crimes
Investigators link Cooper to nine robberies dating back to January. Suspected in several commercial burglaries, Cooper reportedly targeted North Long Beach shops and restaurants. He allegedly jumped over counters and pretended to have a gun. He is accused of using this tactic to make people open registers and give him money.
Cooper is also alleged to have victimized the same Atlantic Avenue business on multiple dates, including August 15, September 5, and September 9. Search warrants served in Long Beach resulted in the seizure of evidence linked to the crimes.
Charges and Proceedings
Cooper was booked for eight counts of robbery, one count of kidnapping, one count of grand theft property, and one count of petty theft. He is being held on $510,000 bail.
