Navy Chief Charged with Domestic Battery

(LibertyInsider.org) – A Florida Navy Chief Petty Officer named Kyle Rogemoser is facing charges of domestic violence after a public celebration went wrong. On October 7th, the 36-year-old attended a ceremonial dinner at the DoubleTree hotel in Jacksonville, Florida to mark his promotion to Chief Petty Officer. Unfortunately, the normally joyous occasion swiftly descended into chaos.

At some point throughout the night, Rogemoser and his girlfriend got into a heated argument. It continued inside their hotel room sometime around midnight, where he allegedly struck her in the face at least three times.

The distressed woman’s screams for help caught the attention of a witness named Corey Johnson. As soon as he walked into the room, he saw the victim on the floor, clearly upset and showing signs of being attacked. He helped her up and escorted her to hotel management, who immediately alerted the police.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Department arrived at the Doubletree Hotel at around 12:30 a.m. Officer M. Cardwell first encountered Johnson, who directed him to Rogenmoser.

Per the affidavit, Cardwell noticed a conspicuous blood spot on Rogemoser’s neck and immediately detained him. Rogemoser was reportedly “extremely intoxicated” at the time.

Cardwell admitted that when he and Officer A. Torres tried to inform Rogenmoser of his Miranda Rights, he didn’t seem to comprehend them. They attempted to clarify the details or identify the source of confusion but failed, possibly because he was so intoxicated.

Agents next spoke with the victim, who opted to withhold her identity under Marsy’s Law. Cardwell confirmed that she had visible injuries to her chin, neck, and lower lip.

Rogenmoser was charged with a misdemeanor count of domestic battery to intentionally cause bodily harm under Florida’s Code 784.03(1)(A)2. Officers transported him to the Duval County Jail, but he was later released on $5,000 bond. The charge carries a maximum potential sentence of up to one year in jail — a stark departure from what should have been a memorable milestone in Rogemoser’s naval career.
