Pascrell had been planning to run for a 15th term this fall. A Prominent Political Career
Bill Pascrell, known for his dedication to Paterson, NJ, served as the city’s mayor from 1990 to 1996 before being elected to Congress. He played a key role in getting the Great Falls recognized as a national historical park. Bill Pascrell was the second-oldest House member and the second New Jersey congressman to die in 2024. Democratic committees in Pascrell’s district will hold a convention to name a successor and pick a new candidate for the November ballot. Biden remarked in his tribute that Pascrell was a “beloved bridge-builder and champion for working-class people.”
